Ciel Océan. Recent Paintings.
The artist Franck Cazenave returns to Bellevue for a solo exhibition, two years after the success of the exhibition "I have the winds, the stars, and the sea" in 2023 (lesventslesastreslamer.com). Covering nearly 500m2, the exhibition Sky Ocean presents more than thirty recent paintings - never shown to the public - by the artist in a scenography that is as sensitive as it is understated. Continuing an archaeology of the intimate nourished by an ineffable oceanic feeling linked to his Basque origins, the Biarritz artist has focused his pictorial research since 2023 on the ocean as a deep mirror. The artist's studio work currently concentrates on the question of oceanic life as a deep mirror, and light as an ethical revelation. Oceanic feeling, observations of the water cycle and tides, reflections, occurrences of light... or psychological duality (inner relationship vs. outer relationship) nourish the activation of a new series of works since 2023, linked to all the artist's research over decades around individuation and our relationship to the living.
The works exude a gentle power and question our relationship to the living as much as our inner life. The exhibition offers a poetic journey that music will rhythmically punctuate. Sky Ocean is a poetic as well as philosophical invitation to reconsider our relationship with the world in a reversal of our certainties. A mirror held towards the horizon.

Argia Art Advisory
Argia is a proposal for artistic curation, formulated by Edward Silhol with the intention of contributing to the enrichment and diversity of the cultural offering in Biarritz and the Basque Country.
A carefully crafted curation program, primarily focused on contemporary painting, which invites us to an authentic encounter with the creations of local and international professional artists.
For this first solo show, Argia is delighted to present the recent works of painter Franck Cazenave.
The Art of Transmission
Art and culture have an essential mission: behind the wonder they often evoke lies the subject of openness to the other. In a hypercharged world, tempted - even conquered - by identity withdrawal, art and artists remind us that we have much in common, and even more to share. They invite us to slow down, to breathe, and to make ourselves available to perceive the immense beauty of life and this Earth that welcomes us, to celebrate our differences to relearn how to live together.
But for that, for art to play its unifying role, it must be accessible. Too often, it is the visitors who are made responsible for understanding an artist's work, while they are only provided with a very limited context. In contemporary art, the approaches of artists are often complex and constructed from an ecosystem of references, which can give rise to a feeling of misunderstanding.
Argia represents a desire to go further in supporting the public in their encounter with the works, to harness the extraordinary potential of today's technologies so that everyone feels truly engaged.
