ABOUT THIS EVENT
Argia Art Advisory & Sakanagallery are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the works from Sidney Carron's artist residency in Biarritz.
Sidney Carron develops an artistic practice centered on the elements, encounter, light, and the body. Continuing a series that has already passed through Brazil, Senegal, Sri Lanka, and Costa Rica, this time she creates in Biarritz. These are works made in public, on the Grande Plage, in contact with her models, the sun, the ocean, and the landscape. The project takes shape through her experiments and her encounters with the city. Shown at the Casino Municipal de Biarritz, the exhibition fills up progressively, revealing a living, sensitive work in constant evolution.
Sakanagallery is a contemporary art gallery based in Donostia–San Sebastián, committed to developing cross-border projects. It supports emerging and established artists in the production and dissemination of new works. For this exhibition, Sakana invites Sidney Carron to create an original project in direct connection with Biarritz and its coastline. Together, Sakana and Argia handle the conception, production, and coordination of the exhibition at the Salon Diane of the Casino Municipal de Biarritz. This project affirms Sakana's commitment to bringing contemporary creation, the territory, and its inhabitants into dialogue.
Argia Art Advisory is a proposal for artistic curation, born of a desire to contribute to the enrichment and diversity of the cultural offering in Biarritz and the Basque Country. Argia invites us into an authentic encounter with the work of local and international contemporary artists. Alongside this installation, Argia is presenting a group exhibition this summer at Terrasse en Ville, 6 rue de la Bergerie, in the Saint-Charles district. Culture cultivates creativity, of course, but it is also an invitation to build community: a spirit of openness and a celebration of difference in a world too often tempted by withdrawal.
Waves of Change is a Biarritz-based public-interest association that, since 2019, has brought together a coalition of public, private, and academic actors around a single mission: to initiate, fund, and grow the projects that make coastal cities more sustainable and resilient. On the Basque coast, water quality and the health of marine ecosystems are pressing concerns. The Ondes Communes project unites scientists, businesses, local authorities, and associations from both sides of the Basque Country to make this territory a European model for marine regeneration. We share the same ground: this coast, its waters, and those who leave their mark on it.
We warmly thank the elected officials and teams of the City of Biarritz, as well as the team at Terraza, for their kindness, their responsiveness, and their support.
